Too much for the wheelie bin
Household bins are fine for the weekly rubbish, but they soon run out of room after a big sort-out. You might have a stack of black bags in the back yard, rolls of old carpet from a redecoration, a garden full of cuttings and broken panels, or a box room that has quietly filled up over the years. Rather than hiring a skip, getting a permit to put it on the road and loading it yourself, you can ask us to do the lot.
This service is for homeowners, tenants and landlords who need a one-off collection of mixed waste. It is also popular with sellers preparing for viewings, landlords between lets, and with families tidying up for an elderly relative.
What we can take away
- bin bags of general household waste and clutter
- old carpets, underlay, laminate offcuts and vinyl
- cardboard boxes and packaging from a move
- garden waste, turf, old fence panels and plant pots
- broken toys, bikes, small appliances and bits of furniture
- timber, kitchen units and leftover materials from a refit
Some waste needs specialist handling, including asbestos, chemicals, solvents, gas bottles and some paints. Please tell us if any of these are on site, and we will explain the options. Plasterboard and rubble can sometimes be taken in smaller amounts, so ask when you get a quote.
How a rubbish collection works
Text or email us a few photos and the postcode, and we will reply with a free, no-obligation price based on how much there is and how easy it is to reach. If time is tight, say so, as we can often fit in short jobs at short notice. A bigger pile simply means a longer visit, not a fuss.
When we arrive, we do all the lifting and loading. Many streets in Middlesbrough and the older parts of Teesside are rows of terraced houses with back yards opening onto an alley, and we are used to collecting from these, as well as from front gardens, garages and flats with communal stairs. Nothing is left sitting on the pavement or in the alley for a neighbour to trip over, and we sweep up the area we have worked in before we go.
Sorted, not just dumped
We try to keep as much as possible out of landfill. Cardboard, metal, wood, garden waste and electricals are separated where possible, and anything still usable can be set aside for reuse. Our page on how we handle waste explains this in more detail.
It is also worth being careful who you hand your rubbish to. In England, householders are legally responsible for making sure their waste goes only to a business that is allowed to transport it. An unmarked van offering to take it away for cash is a warning sign. If waste you gave away is later fly-tipped, you could be held responsible. You can check any collector on the official register of waste carriers, and GOV.UK and local councils publish guidance on avoiding rogue operators.
Before your collection
- bag up loose small items so they are easier to move
- check that nothing you want to keep has ended up in the pile
- tell us about anything sharp, heavy or awkward, like broken glass or a cast iron bath
- let us know where we can park, especially on narrow terraced streets
When a bigger clear-out is needed
If the rubbish is part of a much larger job, our garage and shed clearances or loft clearing service may suit you better, and a whole home can be handled through a complete property clearance. Where clutter has built up over many years, our sensitive hoarding support works at a pace that feels manageable. For a single bulky item such as a fridge or bed, you might also look at Middlesbrough Council's bulky waste collections for residents. When you are ready, send us your photos for a price.
