Clearing homes in a market town with a long history
Stockton-on-Tees grew up around one of the widest high streets in the country, with its eighteenth-century town hall standing in the middle of the market. In 1825 the Stockton and Darlington Railway made the town famous as the end of the world's first public passenger railway line, and the Victorian industry that followed filled the land around the centre with terraced streets. Today the town is run by Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council, and its main postcode districts are TS18 in the east and centre, TS19 in the west and TS20 for Norton.
That spread means a Stockton clearance can look very different from one street to the next. Within a couple of miles you will find Georgian cottages around Norton's village green, Victorian terraces near the town centre, 1950s estates such as Roseworth, and newer family homes on the western edge around Hardwick and Elm Tree Farm.
What clearance work looks like across Stockton
Victorian and Edwardian terraces
The older terraced streets close to the centre, and those around Hartburn, can have steep stairs, attic rooms and small back yards. We usually load from the front, and we time the job to fit in with parking on busy streets. A full Stockton house clearance in one of these homes generally includes the attic or loft as well as the main living areas.
Post-war estates in TS19
Estates such as Roseworth, where every street name begins with R, along with Fairfield, Bishopsgarth and Hardwick, are mostly semis and terraced houses with gardens front and back. Many have been family homes for decades, so we often find full lofts and sheds. We offer attic and loft clearances and clear-outs for garages and sheds on their own, or as part of a whole house.
Norton
Norton, in TS20, keeps the feel of a separate village, with its tree-lined High Street, the duck pond on the green and St Mary's Church, the only cruciform Anglo-Saxon church in the north of England. Housing ranges from old townhouses and cottages to estates further out such as Glebe, Crooksbarn and Norton Grange. Some of the older properties need care moving large furniture through narrow hallways.
When you are dealing with a loss
We know that being asked to empty the home of someone you loved can be overwhelming. Our Stockton bereavement clearance service moves at your pace. You can be there to choose keepsakes, or let us work through the house while we set aside photos, letters, documents and anything else that looks personal.
In most cases an executor is free to empty the property before the grant arrives. The care needed is over valuables, which remain estate assets until they are dealt with under the will. A solicitor can answer questions about your own position, and GOV.UK explains the steps involved in probate. Our estate and probate clearances work closely with solicitors, executors and key-holders.
Landlords and rented homes
Stockton has a large rented sector, and landlords or letting agents often need a property cleared quickly between tenancies. Our help for landlords after a tenant leaves covers abandoned furniture, white goods, rubbish and garden waste, so the property is ready for cleaning and repairs. The agent can hold the keys and we will collect and drop them back.
Smaller loads, single items and junk
If you only need one or two pieces taken away, our collection of old sofas, beds and wardrobes is a simple option. We also do junk and waste removal in Stockton for mixed loads such as broken furniture, bags, carpet and garden rubbish.
Stockton residents can book the council's bulky waste collection for a small number of big items, as long as you do not mind waiting for a slot. We are more useful for larger loads, items that need carrying down stairs, or jobs that need doing on a set day.
Hoarding and business clearances
A home that has filled up over many years needs a gentle approach. Our discreet clearance for hoarded homes is unhurried and free of judgement, letting the person who lives there set the speed, with relatives or a support worker alongside if that helps.
Stockton town centre and its industrial areas also have plenty of shops, offices and units that change hands. We carry out commercial clearances in Stockton, and can work outside opening hours.
Reuse and recycling come first
Each item is looked at as it comes out. Things with plenty of life left are kept back for reuse, metal, electrical goods and card are sent on for recycling, and only what cannot be saved is thrown away. You can read about our recycling and disposal approach. Under the duty of care, your waste should only go to a carrier who is registered, and you can look up any firm on the Environment Agency's waste carrier register.

We regularly work just over the river in Thornaby, north in Billingham and south in Ingleby Barwick. Our area list shows the rest.
