Clearing business premises without the disruption
A business move is busy enough without worrying about what to do with old desks, broken chairs and twenty years of filing. Whether you are relocating, downsizing, refitting or closing, we clear the contents of commercial premises so you can hand back the keys or start the next fit-out on time.
We work with small and medium-sized premises in Middlesbrough and out towards Stockton, Redcar and the wider Teesside area. That might be a first-floor office above a high street shop, a unit on an industrial estate, a café, a salon, a church hall or a storage room at the back of a pub.
Who we work with
- Small businesses moving to new premises or going fully remote
- Shop owners clearing stock, fixtures and stockrooms at the end of a lease
- Landlords and agents with commercial units left full by a previous occupier
- Charities, community groups and churches clearing halls and storerooms
- Executors and families dealing with a late relative's business premises, which often goes alongside a probate clearance of the home
What we can clear
Typical items include office desks and chairs, filing cabinets, shelving, cupboards, meeting tables, kitchen appliances, carpet tiles, old signage, display stands, shop counters, clothes rails, cardboard and packaging, and old stock that can't be sold. We can also clear stockrooms, cellars, upstairs storage and yards.
Items that need extra care
Computers, monitors, printers and phones are electrical waste and need to go for proper recycling. If any equipment may hold data, it is your responsibility to make sure it is wiped or destroyed securely before or as part of disposal; tell us at the quote stage so we can talk through what you need. The same goes for confidential paper records. Chemicals, trade waste from workshops and anything that might contain asbestos should be raised before we arrive, as they may need a specialist.
Your waste responsibilities as a business
The law makes every business responsible for the waste it produces, right up to its final destination. In practice this means storing it safely, passing it only to a registered waste carrier, and keeping a waste transfer note describing each load. GOV.UK has a clear guide on how to dispose of business or commercial waste, and the government's statutory code of practice for waste is published there too. Any carrier's registration can be confirmed through the Environment Agency's online lookup.
How a commercial clearance runs
- Site visit or photos. We look at what needs to go, access, lifts, stairs and loading space, then give a free, no-obligation quote.
- Planning the timing. We can work early, late or at weekends by arrangement, so customers and staff aren't disrupted. Shared buildings often have rules about lifts and loading bays, so please check with your landlord or building manager.
- Labelling. Mark anything staying or moving to your new site. Colour stickers work well.
- Clearing and sorting. We remove everything agreed and sort it as we go, keeping corridors and fire exits clear while we work.
- Handover. We leave floors clear and swept, ready for the landlord, cleaners or shopfitters.
Reuse and recycling
Good office furniture often has plenty of life left in it. Where we can, we send usable desks, chairs and storage for reuse rather than scrapping them. Metal, cardboard, timber and electricals each go their own way to be recycled, leaving as little as possible to be thrown away. Read more about what happens to the items we collect.
Before we arrive
- Back up and remove business data from computers and devices
- Take out keys, cards, petty cash and anything from safes
- Remove or mark leased equipment such as printers and water coolers
- Check your lease for what fixtures must stay in the unit
Smaller jobs
Not every business needs a full clear-out. Where it is just a handful of pieces, our furniture collection or general waste removal may suit better. To find out how we price work, see our pricing guide, or tell us about your premises and we will get back to you with a quote.
