Normanby: between the town and the country park
Normanby sits on the western side of Greater Eston, shares the TS6 postcode with its neighbours, and comes under Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council. Originally a township in the old parish of Ormesby which grew quickly in the second half of the nineteenth century, and later became part of the Eston urban district. Much of the housing on its western edge was built on parkland that once belonged to Normanby Hall, the old mansion that still stands, unoccupied, on that side of the town.
To the south, Flatts Lane leads up to Flatts Lane Woodland Country Park, laid out on the site of the former Normanby brickworks, with paths that climb towards Eston Nab. The beech-topped Godfalter Hill is another local landmark. For a clearance firm, that mix of older streets, post-war estates and newer developments means no two jobs here look quite the same.
The kinds of property we clear in Normanby
Bungalows and semis around Flatts Lane
Normanby has a good number of bungalows, including dormer bungalows, along with semi-detached family homes. Many belong to older residents who are downsizing or moving into care, and the job is often a mix of keeping some furniture for the next home and clearing the rest. Where it is the whole property, our Normanby house clearances cover every room, the loft space and the garden.
Larger homes on Normanby Hall Park
The detached houses on the Normanby Hall Park estate tend to have double garages, big lofts and plenty of storage, which can hide a surprising volume of belongings. We often clear just one space ahead of a sale: a loft emptied and boarded areas cleared before the surveyor visits, or a double garage cleared of tools, bikes and boxes so it can be photographed.
Newer estates such as Mallinson Park
Newer homes have their own quirks: tighter estate roads, shared drives and parking courts. We take care not to block neighbours and carry items to the van rather than leaving anything on the pavement.
Support when someone has died
Clearing the home of someone you have lost is one of the hardest jobs there is. If you need kind, unhurried clearance after a bereavement in Normanby, we will start by asking what matters most to you. We then work room by room, keeping aside photographs, letters, keepsakes and documents so you can look through them when you are ready.
If you are an executor, waiting for the grant is not usually necessary before you clear the house. Valuables are another matter: they still belong to the estate, so check the will before deciding what happens to them. Ask a solicitor where you are unsure, and read the official GOV.UK probate guidance. Our probate and estate clearance service works around solicitors and key-holders, including family members who live a long way from Teesside.
Rentals, single items and junk
When a tenant has moved out of a Normanby house and left furniture or rubbish behind, we can get it emptied so the landlord or letting agent can move on. Our rental property clearances can be arranged around inspections and key handovers.
If it is only a single sofa, a bed or a heavy sideboard, our unwanted furniture collection is quicker than a full clearance. For a jumble of garden clippings, broken fencing, old carpets and bags, we also offer household rubbish removal.
For one or two bulky items, the council runs a bulky waste collection for Redcar and Cleveland residents, which may be enough. We tend to help where there is more to shift, things are upstairs or in a loft, or the timing matters.
Sensitive and commercial work
A home that has become overwhelmed by belongings needs patience, not pressure. Our compassionate hoarding clearances are led by what the resident feels able to manage, and we work alongside family, carers or support workers where they are involved.
We also clear workplaces. From a small shop on Normanby High Street to a storage unit or office, we offer commercial premises clearance with as little disruption as possible.
Reuse, recycling and disposal
Nothing goes into the van unsorted. Pieces someone else could use are kept back for reuse, scrap metal, electrical items and card are split out for recycling, and the small amount left over goes for disposal. Read more about where cleared items end up. By law, the person whose waste it is should make sure it goes to a registered carrier. A quick search of the Environment Agency register shows whether a company is listed.
